About the Campaign
Urgent Surgery to Remove Growing Mammary Masses.
Zelda is a 9-year-old black Lab mix with multiple lumps along her mammary chain that have been getting bigger since early December. Her first vet tried antibiotics, but nothing changed, and they warned it could be mammary cancer.
Lena quickly got Zelda in with another veterinarian for more answers. X-rays suggest the masses may be mammary hyperplasia—abnormal growths that can develop in unspayed dogs—but the only way to truly address what’s happening (and protect Zelda’s health) is surgery to remove the masses and spay her.
Zelda shouldn’t have to live with painful, enlarging growths while her family tries to scrape this together. She needs care now—before the masses grow further, ulcerate, or create more serious complications.
Lena has had Zelda since she was puppy. A friend from high school reached out after finding puppies, and Lena took Zelda in back in April of that year. Zelda has been part of the family ever since—steady, loyal, and always there, especially now that Lena and her husband, Logan, are raising their 9-month-old baby, Lilith.
Right now, money is simply tight. With a baby at home, Lena can’t take full-time hours—and her hours have been cut. They’re also down to one car, which makes everything harder, from work schedules to vet trips. They’ve already paid for Zelda’s X-rays, but the estimate for surgery is more than they can handle without help.
The current estimate is $1,457.50, which includes the diagnostics already completed and covers the needed procedure, including Zelda’s spay.
Your donation will help Lena get Zelda treated quickly—so these masses can be removed, Zelda can be spayed, and the veterinarian can determine exactly what the growths are and what care she needs next. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:

We have a three year-old German Shepherd named Zara. From one Zara to another she’s sending good wishes for a much needed surgery and a great outcome.
