Say Aloha to U’ilani 

This feisty, 2 year old, Yorkie is battling bilateral patella luxation. Patella luxation is a disease commonly found in little dogs due to their genetics. It’s also knows as floating kneecaps or MPL.

In U’ilani’s case she’s dealing with it in both her hind legs. Her legs are in grade three and grade four. This is causing her maximum discomfort.She was once a spunky happy little pup but now she’s isn’t interested in running, playing , or dancing.

Keikilani, U’ilani’s foster/ rescuer, adopted her from a shelter. Keikilani is one of the amazing people that rescues and foster’s animals independently. She loves taking care of animals and then finding them homes. However, U’ilani might be here to stay. She’s become apart of the family. “Every time  I turn around God is just sending me these signs” Keikilani says “There’s just something about her that makes me fall in love with her”.

U’ilani was dealing with behavioral and psychological issues before she found Keikilani. Because of this she had two adoption fails  Providing her with loving a home and the care she needs has curved these behavioral issues. Now, U’ilani just needs medical attention. Back in April, her legs got so bad that she was on complete crate rest. Which best difficult and depressing for her.

The operation will consist of surgery for both legs at the same time. It will be done by the VCA in Sacramento by Dr. Robert Runyan. He is well  experienced with this surgery   as he has performed it for Keikilani’s two other dogs .

Keikilani is do everything she can to make U’ilani comfortable and at ease. In order to gain funding she’s also started a You Caring campaign.
