About the Campaign
Nyx is a 2-year-old female cat with a fractured pelvis, specifically the ilium bone, and a dislocated leg that has shifted upward. She is in pain, and the first plan was crate rest because Celeni could not afford surgery. But Nyx needs follow-up care, pain control, and a real chance to heal properly.
Celeni does not know exactly what happened. Nyx seemed fine around the Fourth of July, but after Celeni returned from visiting family, she heard Nyx crying. At first Nyx wanted to be carried, then became skittish and started walking low to the ground. The next morning, Celeni woke to Nyx screaming in the bathtub, panting and clearly in distress. She rushed to find a vet appointment and got Nyx seen at VCA that evening.
At the vet, Nyx was given pain relief, and X-rays showed the fractured pelvis and displaced leg. Because surgery was not affordable, Celeni was told to crate rest Nyx for four weeks and bring her back to see if the injury improves. Celeni is also willing to explore care in Mexico with family if that becomes a realistic option, but right now she does not know the cost.
Nyx has been with Celeni since she was a kitten. Celeni’s older sister had been feeding a stray cat and did not realize the cat was pregnant. Nyx was one of the kittens, and Celeni took her in and has loved her ever since.
The financial situation is very difficult. Celeni recently turned 18, finished high school in May, and is trying to get settled after a hard family situation. Her family was evicted in March, and she had already moved in with her older sister to finish school. Her partner Daniel, 21, is in a Mercedes technician training program and is not currently working, and Celeni is still trying to find a job.
Nyx is young, hurt, and needs help getting through this safely. Donations will help cover her follow-up exams, X-rays, pain medication, crate-rest care, and any recommended treatment or surgery for her fractured pelvis and dislocated leg. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
