About the Campaign
Growing Mammary Tumor
Moomoo is an 8-year-old Shih Tzu-Chihuahua mix with a big personality in a little body—and her best friend is 15-year-old Shawn, who’s been through more than most kids his age.
After spending a year in the hospital and enduring over 40 brain surgeries for Chiari Malformation, Shawn found comfort in a therapy dog. So when he finally came home, his family set out to find him a pup of his own. That’s how Moomoo came into their lives—and into his heart.
Recently, Moomoo developed a lump on her mammary gland that started small but has since grown rapidly in size. It’s now a tumor, and it needs to be removed before it gets worse. The vet has recommended surgery as soon as possible.
Melissa, a single mother of five—three of whom are special needs and also have Chiari Malformation—spends every day caring for her children. She can’t work and lives on a fixed income. Despite all the challenges, she’s doing everything possible to keep Moomoo in the family, but she simply can’t afford the cost of this urgent surgery alone.
Moomoo is not just a pet—she’s part of the family and a huge emotional support for Shawn. Your donation will help cover the cost of her tumor removal, ensuring she stays healthy and by Shawn’s side where she belongs. Donations are paid to the Oregon Humane Society, and they have confirmed all of Moomoo’s info and the family situation and contacted us as well. Their estimate is below (click to enlarge):
