About the Campaign

Found in a Parking Lot

Sign on her neck “Adopt Me Please”!

This little dog was spotted in the parking lot of Home Depot in El Centro, California. She had a sign around her neck, hand written: “Adopt Me Please, thank you”.

The woman who saw her and photographed her asked for help on Facebook, but by the time people got there to help the little dog has disappeared.

Fortunately a few days later Animal Control (City of El Centro) was able to locate and catch her! She was terrified, but off the street.

(Update below, between the lines)

Today, Feb 19th, she went to the groomer!

She’s been scared and dirty for so long:

(…end update)

Her situation now:

On Tuesday, February 18th, El Centro Animal Control transferred her to the Humane Society of Imperial County (HSIC). HSIC takes in strays caught by animal control after their initial hold.

Devon Apodaca, the Director of HSIC, took her in himself and got us these initial photos. She has mammary tumors and could use at least a dental cleaning, if not minor dental work.

The plan:

HSIC works with a number of vets in Mexicali, Mexico. They have a vet that can do the tumor removal, but not the dental. There is a slightly more expensive vet that can do both. Devon would prefer that Miss Annie (that is her new name!) only have to undergo one procedure, so let’s raise the money for her to get treated all in one go at this vet!

We will post estimates and a full diagnosis once we have it, but for now the guess is it will be about $1000-1200. All donations are paid to the vet through HSIC and any money left over after all of Annie’s procedures will be donated to HSIC, a 501c3 charity! Please donate in confidence! You donation is for HSIC to get Annie the best care she deserves!!

Thank you for donating and keep following this page for updates as we get them! WOOOOOOF!

I knew this was happening eventually but the University of Arizona now has a Veterinary School. It is my understanding that treatment are much less expensive because students watch and learn and later in their education, do some of the surgeries.

Just thought I would give you another option. I would just call the school and check it out.
