Senior’s Bad Teeth

Macie’s mouth is in rough shape, and she now needs a dental cleaning and likely tooth extractions to relieve pain and help her eat comfortably again.

Macie is a 15-year-old Mini-Pincher and Chihuahua mix who has been with Silvia since she was a puppy—after Silvia’s niece found her roaming alone in a parking lot. No mom. No owner in sight. Just a tiny pup who needed someone to say, “You’re safe now.”

Lately, that safety has come with a new problem: a strong, unpleasant smell from Macie’s mouth that turned out to be serious dental disease. Macie’s teeth are in bad condition, and she’s now eating soft food (or kibble that has to be soaked) because chewing is too hard.

Macie also has arthritis, and some days she struggles just to get up. Silvia has already been taking her in often to manage that—so when this dental issue reached the point of needing a procedure, it became one more urgent expense on top of everything else.

Silvia is on Social Security and lives with her 94-year-old father, Oscar. She applied for CareCredit to help cover Macie’s care, but she was declined. Macie’s dental condition is treatable, and with a proper cleaning and extractions as needed, she can be more comfortable, eat better, and feel like herself again. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
