Broken Arm!

Lilo is a 7-month-old female Chihuahua puppy with a radial fracture in her front leg. This kind of break is painful and unstable, and puppies heal fast—so getting proper repair quickly matters. Sonia has done everything she can to get Lilo seen, but Lilo still needs the surgery and follow-up care that will give her the best chance at a normal, pain-free life.

Lilo was injured when she jumped up on the bed and twisted wrong. Sonia heard a crack, and Lilo immediately cried and couldn’t use the leg. Sonia tried to find an emergency vet locally, but no one could take her right away, so she had to wait until the next day and drive farther—finally getting help, but also learning the hard part: the recommended treatment is expensive and out of reach.

Sonia brought Lilo home in September after seeing her posted online and driving about an hour to meet her. Lilo was the last puppy left, and Sonia fell in love instantly. She was going through a lonely, difficult period, and her boyfriend encouraged her to get a puppy so she wouldn’t feel so alone. Lilo became that comfort—tiny, sweet, and always there.

Now Sonia is trying to come up with the money for surgery while living paycheck to paycheck. She isn’t working right now and is focused on stabilizing her health and getting back on her feet. Her boyfriend, Derik (25), works construction as a tile layer and covers rent and groceries, sometimes working weekends too, but there’s no cushion for a sudden orthopedic surgery. Sonia applied for CareCredit and was declined, and she has even sold her jewelry just to cover the care Lilo has already received.

Sonia also had to step away from cosmetology school after a car crash in November left her without a car, making everything—from work to appointments—harder and more expensive. Despite all of this, she’s still fighting to get Lilo what she needs.

Donations will help cover Lilo’s fracture repair surgery and the veterinary care needed for healing, so her leg can mend properly while she’s still growing. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below, click to enlarge:
