Needs Feeding Tube Replaced
Clu, a 14-year-old Maine Coon, urgently needs surgery to replace his gastrointestinal feeding tube. He’s lived with the tube for three years due to a throat stricture that prevents him from eating normally. Without it, he can’t get the nutrition he needs to survive.
Just last week, Clu’s tube slipped out. His vet confirmed he must undergo another procedure to have it replaced. Until then, Jane—his mom of 14 years—is struggling to keep him nourished with slurry meals. This is only a temporary solution, and time is running out.
Jane adopted Clu from the Santa Barbara shelter after hearing people say he’d never be adopted because he was “too loud.” Ironically, he turned out to be the quietest of her cats. He became a beloved companion to her other cat, Quorra, and has remained an important part of her six-cat family ever since. Jane has spent over $20,000 on Clu’s medical care through the years, and specialists know him as an “oddity” for thriving so long with a feeding tube.
But right now, Jane is unemployed after a career in HR and teaching as an adjunct professor. She and her partner have done everything possible to raise funds. They have gotten a fundraiser through Greyfoot Cat Rescue, that has gotten about 2/3rds of the money needed https://greyfootcat.rescuegroups.org/. She also applied for Care Credit, but was declined. Still, Clu is short of the total needed which we hope to raise here and get him into the vet ASAP!
Clu is otherwise healthy—he just needs this tube replaced to keep going. Your donation will help cover the remaining costs so Clu can continue to live comfortably with the family who adores him. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
