Bella the Bunnyhopper Needs Help

Bella is a 7-month-old kitten with the soul of a survivor and the heart of a cuddlebug. Born in a colony of friendly strays behind AM’s house, she stood out early—not just for her sweet nature, but for how she moved. Instead of walking normally, Bella hops with her back legs like a bunny. She also struggles to control her bladder and bowels, and painful ulcers have formed on her heels from dragging her back end.

AM (yes, her name as two capital letters) and her fiancé, Orm, noticed Bella’s condition when they were helping care for a group of 12 strays who had taken shelter in their alley. AM has worked with rescues all her life and successfully rehomed 7 of the 12 cats, using her own money to cover over $1,100 in expenses. When she couldn’t find space in a rescue for the rest, she took responsibility—because these cats are incredibly human-friendly and deserved a real chance at life, not just a return to the street.

Now, Bella has a chance at a forever home. A local Spanish-speaking family who’s been feeding the strays has fallen in love with her—especially their young daughter, who’s been acting as translator between AM and her parents. The little girl is eager to adopt Bella and give her the love she deserves. But first, Bella needs answers.

She’ll need a full veterinary work-up to determine what’s going on with her back legs, whether anything can be done to improve her mobility and manage her incontinence, and how to heal her ulcers.
