About the Campaign

His heart isn’t so bad,

it is his teeth!

Zazu was set to be put to sleep. Why? Because he wasn’t neutered. Yep, really! Well, also it is a little more than that: Zazu was in a shelter in California. He wasn’t neutered. So to get adopted, the shelter requires that he be neutered at the shelter. But the shelter vet examined him and said he heart was too bad to go under anesthesia. So he can’t be neutered. So he can’t be adopted. So they were going to put him down.

Zazu arrives in Oregon:

Fortunately the Oregon based rescue Soul2Soul got involved, got him out and got him up to Oregon. They had his records from the shelter, and based on the report about his heart they assumed he would be a “Hospice Foster”. One of their volunteers would foster him until he passed away, he would not be up for adoption.

But their vet had a very different opinion! Yes, Zazu had a heart murmur, but it wasn’t so bad. Grade 3 (out of six). Really the problem is his teeth. They are very infected and full of tartar. This has an affect on the heart, and can make heart issues much worse. Suddenly everything thing changed!

Zazu at Parkway Animal Hospital in Oregon:

Zazu won’ t be a hospice foster. He needs to have a few teeth pulled, and a thorough cleaning and antibiotics. He might need a heart pill too, but maybe not. Oh, and he’ll get neutered. Then he should be healthy! And live a long time! So guess what, he can get adopted too.

It’s great news for Zazu, but a totally unexpected expense for the rescue. They thought they were saving a little old dog from being killed in the shelter, and giving him six months or so in a nice home at the end of his life. But now, with surgery, Zazu is totally adoptable! With surgery, which is kind of a lot. The teeth cleaning, the tooth pulling, the neutering, and x-rays and an ekg of his heart. It adds up! All donations to Zazu are paid directly to the vet, for him. And Soul2Soul does great work saving lots of dogs from overpopulated animal shelters, so it helps Zazu and the rescue! With Zazu funded, healed up and then adopted, then ANOTHER dog can be rescued! Vet estimate below, click to enlarge:

This little one needs a chance in/for life. Please take lower amt. for his care or possibly you could have a heart and donate your time of service Mr Veterinary doctor. I take my two dogs to you, so please have a heart for this little sole, is that not why you got into vet business, care of animals. I would like to adopt him after you help him and then he would totally be my responsibility. I once had two poodles and each had health issues , one on phenobarbital and other on medcam. So I’m aware of pets in need. Please help this little one!
