About the Campaign
Hit by a car,
Winston needs multiple skin grafts!
Winston already had one surgery, and his bill has totaled over $15,000… wow! Fortunately his family has been able to cover getting him emergency care and his first surgery, and it looks like that surgery went well. But Winston needs more procedures, back to back and he needs help getting those paid for.
It was one of those things, the young son (9 years old) of the family was holding Winston when dad went to do some stuff, and when the boy let go of Winston’s collar he just bolted after Dad at exactly the wrong time and got hit by a passing car. His injuries are two broken legs, a collapsed lung, and a 16-inch hole on his side.
Winston a few months ago:
The family hasn’t had Winston long, and they were not looking to get a dog. They have cystic fibrosis in the family, and expenses and difficulties dealing with this chronic disease already, but Chris (the husband) was eating outside at a local fast food place a few months ago, in October, and a man came over and pointed to where he had tied Winston up to a chair. “I lost my job, and I can’t keep this dog”, the man said. He was just leaving him there tied to the chair!
So Chris couldn’t let that happen. He took Winston home, maybe half thinking to keep him, but also thinking they might just find him a home. Winston however was an instant hit with the children and from the moment Chris let him out of the car and into the house, Winston was at home!
The family are all devastated by the accident and so worried about Winston. Now as the surgeries continue they need additional help to get Winston the care he needs. All donations here are held by us and paid directly to the vet. Donations are tax-deductible and no fees are taken out either. Below is part of Winston’s initial bill. Though the exact charges coming up are not know, because it depends on how many surgeries he needs, the hospital is sure it will be at least $6000 more dollars and probably more.
