Urgent Care for Neck Injury
Winky, a five-year-old American Shorthair, is suffering from severe swelling, scratching, and bleeding around his neck. What began a few weeks ago with excessive scratching has now developed into an open wound that won’t heal. He urgently needs a veterinary exam, treatment, and updated vaccines to prevent his condition from getting worse.
Alexandra first noticed the issue when Winky came in one evening to eat and drink, then lay down quietly. When she reached to pet him, she saw he was bleeding. Since then, the problem has continued—swelling, nonstop scratching, and repeated bleeding. The cause is unclear, but it may be from an infection or even an injury from another neighborhood cat. Without professional care, Winky’s condition risks serious complications.
Winky has been Alexandra’s constant companion since she adopted him through Furry Friends when she first moved to the city. Friendly, treat-motivated, and affectionate, Winky has been her comfort through school and life changes. Now, at just five years old, he deserves the chance to get better and return to his playful self.
Unfortunately, Alexandra and her mom can’t afford the vet bills right now. Her mom is a school bus driver and a single parent supporting two dogs and Winky, with rent and insurance costs that have recently skyrocketed. Alexandra, about to graduate high school and turn 18 in October, had to stop working to finish school and pay senior dues. Despite their best efforts, the family simply cannot cover Winky’s urgent care costs.
With timely veterinary treatment, Winky’s wound can be properly cleaned, treated, and healed. Donations will go directly to the veterinarian to ensure he receives the care he needs right away.
