Willow Needs Your Help for Life-Changing Surgery
Playful Willow needs a second knee surgery to get back on her feet!
Willow, a 9-year-old poodle mix, has faced more challenges than any dog should endure. While vacationing with her mom Tina in July, Willow got so excited by the open field that she ran around like a puppy again—forgetting her age and sedentary lifestyle—and tore the ligament in her hind leg. Tina managed to get Willow the surgery she needed, thanks to insurance. But just three weeks after recovering, Willow leaped over a barrier and tore the ligament in her other knee, needing a second surgery.
Unfortunately, Willow’s pet insurance only covers up to $5,000 a year, and with that cap already reached on the first surgery, this second operation is entirely out of pocket. The estimated cost is between $5,800 and $6,100, and the surgery is scheduled for Halloween—five weeks away.
The timing of this couldn’t be worse. Tina has had a heartbreaking and financially overwhelming year. In April, she flew to Miami when her stepson’s wife fell seriously ill, only to tragically lose her a few days later. Weeks later, Tina was hit by a drunk driver, totaling her car and leaving her with a new car payment. As she juggles her own health issues and mounting medical expenses, this second surgery for Willow is a financial hurdle Tina simply can’t clear alone.
The first surgery cost Tina $3,000 out of pocket, and she’s already raised $500 through her GoFundMe, with hopes of starting a Waggle campaign as well. She’s doing everything she can to raise funds, but it’s still not enough.
How You Can Help Willow Walk Again
Willow’s spirit is still strong and playful, but she needs this second surgery to live pain-free and get back to the active, happy dog she loves to be. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help Willow get the care she needs to make a full recovery. With your support, we can make sure she gets her surgery on time and back to her old self.
Today (October 7th), Tina reports this about Willow: “Here’s a picture from this morning. She started doing curbs as it’s in her instructions for rehab. She came inside and cowered hiding the newly injured leg under the bed. She won’t come out of that corner even for a treat.”:
Please consider donating to Willow’s surgery fund. Your kindness and generosity will make all the difference in her life. Let’s help Willow run, jump, and play again!
