About the Campaign

Urgent Oral Surgery Needed

Valentino is a 12-year-old Shorkie (Shih Tzu–Yorkie mix) who needs oral surgery as soon as possible. He has a broken tooth, heavy tartar buildup, and a painful gum infection. He’s never had dental work before, and now even simple things like eating and grooming can hurt.

Kenn first realized something was really wrong when Valentino’s breath suddenly got much worse. He tried everything he could at home—dental treats, cleaning, different products—but nothing helped. About two weeks ago, he took Valentino to the vet, where they confirmed the broken tooth, infection, and need for urgent oral surgery and a full dental cleaning.

Valentino has been Kenn’s constant companion since 2013. Back then, Kenn was living alone in Atlanta and struggling with depression. Friends suggested getting a pet, and he found Valentino. Valentino was just seven weeks old, and he’s been by Kenn’s side ever since through multiple moves, relationships, and big life changes.

Recently, life has been especially hard. Kenn works as a site supervisor at a treatment clinic, but he’s been digging out of debt and was even homeless in his car for a time while still working. He’s finally getting some stability back, but the cost of Valentino’s surgery is more than he can manage on his own right now. He did apply for Care Credit, but was declined.

Despite it all, Valentino remains a sweet, urban little dog who has adapted to every new city with Kenn—from Atlanta to North Carolina, to Charlotte, and now eight years in Seattle. He’s been there for Kenn through the hardest times. Now Kenn is doing everything he can to be there for Valentino—but he needs help.

With proper dental surgery and treatment, Valentino’s prognosis is good. The infection can be addressed, the broken tooth treated, and his mouth made comfortable again so he can enjoy his senior years without constant pain. Your donation will go directly toward Valentino’s oral surgery and related veterinary care, and all donations are paid only to the veterinarian.

I gotta get my 13 yr old cat in for his first time dental cleaning. Lost my job and no more pet insurance so it’s nearly impossible. I hope your Valentino gets it done real soon! He looks so lovable and the best friend ever!

We have a senior rescue (Penny Dreadful) who came to us w horrible teeth and gums. She had another surgery recently and had 6 teeth pulled. It took her a bit but she’s eating well again and is back to her old self. Poor thing must have been so miserable.

Thank you for what you do. I don’t want to sound rude, but $3,000 sounds a little high. Maybe I don’t understand how this organization works, but I hope you get the amount you need.

I wish Valentino much luck through the surgery and beyond. He will feel SO much better when it’s done. My little guy, Sparky, a Maltese mix, is going through a similar situation. However, we don’t know the exact nature of his pain yet. He’s on an antibiotic shot until surgery takes place (he has a liver condition so it complicates things). But we trust our vet 100% and if love could cure Sparky he wouldve been healed already, which I’m sure you feel the same about Valentino. We wish you both all the best!!! We’ll be thinking about you two! Hang in there! ❤️🐾❤️🐾

My donation is small because I also have a dog with dental needs and have an $8000 vet bill from when another of my pup’s lost her battle with heart disease on Dec 11.
