About the Campaign

Tordy is a female cat, believed to be about 7 to 10 years old, who showed up as an abandoned stray and slowly made herself part of Tamara’s life. At first she only came around once in a while, but over time she began coming regularly for feedings with the other cats. Now she is vocal, affectionate, and loves sleeping on the pillow on Tamara’s bed.

Tamara recently noticed that Tordy’s breath had become horrible, a sign that something was wrong in her mouth. She took Tordy to the vet for an exam and wellness check, and Tordy is now on antibiotics. But antibiotics are only a temporary step if there is dental disease or infection. Tordy needs proper veterinary care so the source of the problem can be treated.

Tordy was not chipped, and no one came looking for her. Tamara already had three rescue cats of her own, and she had only planned to feed and care for them. But when Tordy kept showing up, Tamara could not turn her away. This abandoned cat chose her, and Tamara gave her safety.

The problem is cost. Tamara is a senior citizen on Social Security. She is retired now after working as a school bus driver, and she also tries to earn a little extra when she can through in-home help, cooking, laundry, and sometimes Uber or Lyft. But her budget is very limited.

Tamara has also had her own health struggles. She is diabetic, was in a car accident last year that aggravated her back, and is now dealing with a serious retina problem that may be a detachment. Even with all of that, she is trying to do right by Tordy.

Donations will help cover Tordy’s exam, dental care, antibiotics, pain medication, and any related veterinary treatment needed to clear the infection and help her feel better. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:

I take care of lots of abandoned kitties and I too am on a fixed income, so I know how it feels to have a sick kitty and too much month at the end of the money. I would donate more if I could, but unfortunately someone’s dumped yet another cat out here w kittens and I had to bring them inside before the coyotes or owls get them. I’ve been doing animal rescue for almost 50+ years,it’s the best thing ever 🤗Good luck Tordy on your sore toofers and congrats to her new Mama , you’re a great human!
