About the Campaign

It was an emergency!

This little puppy was just 8 weeks old when an adult dog attacked her, and nearly ripped off her arm.

The owners, possibly breeding dogs for profit, took her to the vet, and when they were told the cost of treatment, said just to put her to sleep! The doctor was upset, and refused. The dog needed her arm removed, unfortunately it was damaged beyond repair, but there was no reason to put her to sleep for that.

Fortunately this doctor was able to connect to Debra at SoCal Bulldog Rescue. Now things got a bit complicated. The surgery had to happen right away, really that day. But the vet did not have the equipment to do a full amputation of the leg. And little Tanya was going to need to be in a full service hospital where she could stay overnight, monitored by a doctor. With this urgency and those requirements the only option was a VCA hospital. The rescue knew it would be expensive, but that was what Tanya needed, and needed now.

So the doctor prepared Tanya for travel to VCA in Anaheim, put her on an IV, wrapped up her arm and gave her a good dose of pain medications.

When Tanya arrived at VCA, Yorba Linda, they took her in right away and the doctor, and orthopedic specialist, examined her and called Debra. Debra’s first question: “Is there any possibility to save the leg?”… and the response was a long pause and a sigh, “Debra, if there was ANYTHING I could do… but no. There is no ‘if’ or ‘maybe’ here, we have to amputate.”

The surgery went well, and Tanya is making a very solid recovery. The problem for this little girl is not any complication from the procedure, but learning that she doesn’t have an arm! She was just born with an arm, and was learning to walk and run, and then POOF the arm is gone! Debra is working with her, helping her learning to walk, to climb small steps, and to understand that although it FEELS like there is an arm there, there is not.

SoCal Bulldog Rescue needs help here. This was an emergency out of nowhere, that not only did they no expect, but that also required treatment at a full service hospital, at those prices. All donations are only for SoCal Bulldog Rescue, a registered 501c3 charity, and paid only to them. Can you help support their great work and Tanya with a donation? Thank you.

The donation is towards the vet bill because I know from experience that she will do just fine with three legs. I had a similar experience with a pup. It was amazing within a couple weeks it was as if the dog had always been this way puppy was about three months old when there was a tragedy. VCA are thieves. Do you know what a very reputable vet charged me for the same surgery $1000 and this was in Woodland Hills Dr. Deborah Jackson. It honestly sickens me how these hospitals charge people so much money because the people that left her behind it’s a horrible thought that they asked to put her down but we don’t know their story and had VCA charged a fair price maybe they wouldn’t have been cornered the way they were, it’s really hard to believe they didn’t love their dog and I’ve seen a lot of pain out there and hardship with people that can’t afford these emergency hospitals there are people out there like Dr.jeff werber value pet in westwood ca, .com who established airvet.com for the sole purpose of helping people in the middle of the night so they can make it through till morning so they aren’t forced to go to an emergency room or they will be charged these unfair prices . If everyone just donates a small amount it will add up fast.
