About the Campaign
Cannot Breathe!
Suzie Q is a senior female Pug who has been struggling with serious breathing problems for nearly two months, and she still doesn’t have a diagnosis. She needs blood work, additional X-rays, a radiologist review of her imaging, so her veterinary team can figure out what’s causing these frightening episodes and how to treat it properly.
A few days ago, Suzie Q had to return to the hospital because she was struggling to breathe so severely that her tongue turned blue. The doctor initially suspected pneumonia and started medication. But even after a full round of antibiotics, her lungs remain cloudy on imaging, and she is still having episodes where she can’t catch her breath for a minute or two at a time. At this point, “try another medication and hope” isn’t enough—she needs diagnostics to identify what’s happening in her chest and airway.
Suzie Q has been with Samantha since she was a puppy. Samantha got her at 8 weeks old as a gift for her dad after his 18-year-old Pug passed away. Suzie Q was healthy for years and became part of the family’s daily life. When Samantha’s dad passed in 2018, Samantha took Suzie Q in permanently, and she’s been her responsibility and beloved companion ever since.
Samantha has been trying to find help anywhere she can. She was approved for only $350 in assistance, and that was used up quickly on the first visits. Now, as testing escalates the costs have outpaced what her family can manage.
Financially, this is a one-income household with five people relying on it. Samantha’s husband works in manufacturing and is currently the only one bringing in steady pay. They are also helping care for extended family in the home, including an elderly and ill stepfather. With basic living costs already stretched thin, there’s no cushion left for repeated emergency visits and advanced imaging.
Donations will help cover Suzie Q’s urgent diagnostics, so her veterinarians can finally identify the cause of her breathing crisis and start the right treatment. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Thank you for helping Samantha get Suzie Q the answers she needs to breathe safely again.
