Original post continues:

Broken leg,

was going to be put to sleep

Summer was found by animal control, probably hit by a car, with a broken leg. They took her to the emergency hospital they have a contract with, where her injuries were diagnosed. The doctor determined she either needed amputation or orthopedic surgery.

This is beyond the minimal budget animal control will cover, so she was going to be “humanely euthanized”.

UPDATE VIDEO, Hedi from Camino Pet Hospital Tells Summer’s Story

Fortunately for Summer, a volunteer of ours (Travis) was at the hospital to pick up another dog we had brought in, Chance. The staff told him about Summer and he contact us. We then reached out to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, and they agreed to take Summer in right away. SAVED!

We are waiting for the doctor at Camino Pet Hospital to give his opinion on whether amputation or some sort of repair surgery is the best option. But Summer could really use donations either way! UPDATE: Has to be amputation, the wound is terrible with infection and dead tissue. Estimate:

Every animal deserves a second chance. No animal should be disposable. They have a heart and a soul just like us.

I’m donating because my sister’s dog at 14 1/2 was playing with his ball. They have another dog that is a Japanese mixed dog with three different Japanese dogs in it. He’s very playful and loves to play with the frisbee. My brother-in-law was out there playing with the dog, the frisbee and the other one which name was Toby. Could not see that well. He walked in front of the other dog when he was running to get the frisbee and got knocked over and rolled about three times. It was a little Australian shepherd dog and he could not get up. My brother-in-law had to pick him up and carry him in and they noticed that the phone was ticking out of his back leg. Should he rush him to the emergency vet. They reset the leg. Put the cast on cast. Was supposed to be on for about 6 months because the way the break was really bad more than one spot. After about the second month they found out that they leg was not healing properly and it keep changing the cast and they took him in for his cast be changed again. Going on a third month and the pet said it was not healing properly. The the bone popped out again and ripped the skin open. They could not do anything else except either amputate the leg or put them down. My sister chose to put the dog down. It’s a very hard decision. When they first took the dog in they had to revive the dog through times because his heart kept stopping. When they put the other cast on after the second time the same thing happened. We came to third time they chose not to because it figured he wouldn’t make it. There’s no way he could survive another surgery like that. I was heartbroken and very upset. I understand at 14 and a half having be revived three times they did the right decision but it still hurt my babysat the dog for like 2 months straight and went down to see it quite a bit. It was a little shadow about you everywhere. They give you sweet little kisses. So I see this dog summer and he looks like my sister’s dog. Toby that we put down and I had to give even though I don’t have the money I had to give a memory of my sister’s dog Toby. So God bless you. Summer may have a wonderful life. Live alone, prosperous life. Enjoy every little thing since I can’t have a talk I don’t need. Even though I have no extra money to do it, I just don’t do it. I live off my social security but I’m a big dog lover and I will do what I have to do in my heart. God will help me survive. Thank you for all you do. God bless you all

I’m on a fixed income and giving a pittance, but I’m moved by this beautiful dog. I hope someone with more money will give what they can. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
