About the Campaign
Free Animal Doctor normally requires clear, high-resolution photos that show the pet well, ideally in different settings. In Stormy’s case, Dolores is not physically able to take the kind of photos we usually ask for, and her camera quality is limited. We decided to list Stormy’s campaign anyway because her need is urgent, her dental infection is serious, and the lack of perfect photos is not Stormy’s fault.
Stormy is a 10-year-old female Pitbull mix who needs urgent dental surgery for a cracked tooth and painful abscesses. This started after she bit down on a bone and damaged a tooth down to the gum. Soon after, her health began to decline: she stopped eating normally, lost energy, her face and eyes became swollen, and her owner, Dolores, found a hole near the gumline.
Dolores took Stormy to the vet on April 26, where the abscess was found and Stormy was sent home with pain medication and antibiotics. She went back for a recheck and medication refill on May 18, and the doctor said Stormy needs surgery as soon as possible. Her pre-op bloodwork and EKG are scheduled for June 17, but Dolores is afraid she may have to cancel because she does not have the money for the surgery that needs to follow.
Stormy is getting worse. Right now she has soft/liquid stool, vomited yesterday, is lying around all day, has terrible breath, and does not want Dolores touching her face. She is also out of medication. Dolores sometimes sleeps beside her just to keep her comfortable, but comfort is not enough anymore. The infection needs to be treated at the source.
Dolores has tried hard to find a solution. She has taken Stormy to four vets and called several more offices looking for a lower quote, but the prices are all in the same range. She did not apply for CareCredit because she knows she will not be approved. She is retired, lives alone, is on Social Security, and does not have a car.
This has all happened during a frightening time for Dolores too. On April 14 Dolores suffered a heart attack. Stormy has been with Dolores since 2016, when she adopted her from a local shelter. Dolores has always been a dog person, and Stormy has been her companion at home along with Apollo, her 6-year-old German Shepherd. Now Stormy is the one who needs help. Donations will help cover Stormy’s pre-op bloodwork, EKG, urgent dental surgery, abscess treatment, medications, and related veterinary care. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
