About the Campaign
Storm is a 6-year-old female Pitbull, a solid 85-pound “big girl,” who has a torn CCL and needs TPLO surgery to stabilize her knee and relieve pain. At her size, this kind of injury rarely improves with rest alone. Without surgery, she is at higher risk for worsening arthritis and tearing the other knee from overcompensating.
JR and his family have already done a lot to get Storm this far. They have spent over $2,000 on vet visits, diagnostics, and early care, and they have managed to cover about half of the surgery cost. They are not starting from zero. They are asking for help closing the remaining gap so Storm can get scheduled and start healing.
Storm’s injury came on suddenly. After a visit to JR’s parents’ house, where Storm was doing what she loves most, running around and chasing squirrels, she came home limping. They hoped it would pass, but after a week it was not improving, and Storm even started eating less. That is when they brought her in and learned it was a torn CCL.
Storm has been family since she was a puppy. A Facebook post said the litter was being given away and might end up at a shelter. Storm was the runt, and JR could not leave her behind. They already had an older Terrier-Chihuahua mix, Jezzy, nearly 14, and wanted a companion for her. Storm also became a steady source of comfort for JR’s wife, Tanya, who has long dealt with depression and anxiety.
The barrier is cost. JR supports the household on one income, working customer service for CPS Energy. Tanya does not work right now, and the budget is already tight with home repairs needed, including a roof and an AC system that is failing. Their senior dog Jezzy also has kidney and eye issues, which adds to ongoing veterinary costs.
This fundraiser is for one clear goal: help cover the remaining cost of Storm’s TPLO surgery so she can stop limping and get back to a comfortable life. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
