About the Campaign
Painful Skin Sores
Speedy is a sweet Pitbull-Rottweiler mix who’s been fighting painful, blister-like skin outbreaks for over a year. The sores ooze and itch, and they’ve left patches of fur missing. Her mom, Crystal, washes her feet every time she comes inside, trying to keep the flare-ups at bay. But even with medication, the condition keeps coming back.
Speedy is supposed to get monthly allergy shots to help control the outbreaks—possibly Cytopoint—but Crystal is on disability and has no money to spare. Her entire check goes to rent and bills, and she’s simply out of options. Even a basic follow-up visit to the vet today had to be rescheduled because she couldn’t afford it.
Crystal has had Speedy since birth. Speedy’s mom, Alley Cat, passed away two years ago at 12 years old. From a litter of twelve puppies, Speedy was the one Crystal couldn’t let go. She knew instantly—Speedy was the one. She’s not asking for much. Just a few hundred dollars could get Speedy back to the vet for a follow-up, another allergy shot, and medication to keep her from suffering through this all over again.
