About the Campaign
He’s not blind, his eyes are good!
Simon is a 2-year-old male Russian Blue cat in the care of the 9-Lives rescue who needs follow-up laser therapy after severe entropion. Entropion happens when the eyelids roll inward, causing the lashes and lid edges to rub against the eye surface. It’s extremely painful and can cause corneal damage and loss of vision if it isn’t corrected.
Simon has already had one entropion surgery, and it helped a lot—but his condition was so advanced that he still isn’t fully healed. The rescue is now getting additional veterinary input, and the next recommended step is laser therapy to finish correcting the problem and get Simon as close to 100% comfort and function as possible.
Simon’s story started at the Downey shelter, where he came in as a stray on January 27, 2026, injured and unable to protect himself. He had puncture wounds and a neck abscess, likely from being attacked by another animal. Because Simon couldn’t open his eyes, he appeared blind, and he was placed on the list to be euthanized. The rescue was notified and stepped in to save him.
9-Lives is a very small California rescue that pulls cats from the Downey shelter and places them into foster homes. They currently have about 10 cats in foster care at any given time and rely on donations to cover medical needs. They did not anticipate that Simon’s entropion would be so severe or that his care would require multiple procedures—but they’ve already done the first surgery because Simon deserved the chance. Now they need help to complete his recovery.
Getting Simon this follow-up treatment isn’t just about comfort: it’s also about adoption. A cat who can open his eyes normally, see comfortably, and live without chronic eye irritation has a much better chance of finding a forever home!
Donations will help cover Simon’s follow-up laser therapy and related veterinary care so his eyes can heal properly and he can move toward adoption. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Thank you for helping 9-Lives finish what they started—saving Simon’s sight, comfort, and future!

Our rescue cat also suffered with the same condition, and thankfully eye surgery has made her life pain-free and happy. Thank you for all you are doing to insure the same outcome for dear Simon 😽
