About the Campaign
Selene is a 5-year-old female cat who is sick, losing weight, vomiting, and barely eating. Darlene realized how serious it was when she picked Selene up to brush her and felt how thin she had become. Because Selene has long fur, the weight loss was hidden until Darlene could feel it.
Selene now looks sad and depressed, and she is throwing up what looks like a hairball about once a day. Darlene has searched her symptoms and worries it could be something like hyperthyroidism, but Selene needs a real veterinary exam and testing to know what is wrong. She needs bloodwork, an exam, medications if needed, and help getting her eating again.
Selene came into Darlene’s life when Darlene was living in Florida. Her landlord’s property had become a place where people dumped kittens, and the landlord was doing trap-neuter-return. Selene was one of those kittens, and Darlene decided to keep her because she was so cute. She has loved and cared for her ever since.
Until recently, Darlene was able to keep up with her pets’ care, including vaccines, flea prevention, and regular needs. But she lost her most recent job and is now living on just over $1,000 a month in Social Security, which barely covers her mortgage and basic necessities. She also does not have a working car, after the vehicle she bought turned out to be a lemon and broke down within months.
Darlene also has health challenges of her own and she has nothing extra to contribute and even the recommended food is more than she can afford. Selene needs help now, before the weight loss and not eating become even more dangerous. Donations will help cover her veterinary exam, bloodwork, testing, medications, appetite support, food, and follow-up care so Darlene can find out what is wrong and get Selene feeling better. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
