About the Campaign
Could lose her home!
Scarlet could end up at the pound, through no fault of her own.
Anecia has owned Scarlet since Scarlet was a puppy, over five years now. Anecia has been her only owner and only home, until last year. Anecia’s boyfriend died suddenly, leaving her in a deep depression. She went into a residential therapy and her friends and roommates took care of Scarlet and her other dog Hendrix. Scarlet got out and got back together with Scarlet and Hendrix but at the end of 2024 she started having serious problems again, and was convinced to go into another residential facility for what is expected to be about six months total.
Anecia and Scarlet
Anecia agreed because the facility has housing that allows pets! She was able to bring Hendrix, a well behaved Malinois mix to live with her, but Scarlet had to go into a boarding and training facility. There were two reasons. One, the residence has private rooms but is a shared residence, and Scarlet can be reactive to strangers. And two, the facility typically limits clients to one pet. However, they agreed that if Scarlet could improve her behavior sufficiently to be safe around other residents, and Anecia was doing well with Hendrix, they would consider making an exception and letting Scarlet move in as well.
Sounds good! Which is where we come to Scarlet’s problem and why she needs help now. Scarlet has been improving, but is not ready to live in tight quarters with strangers who come and go. She needs more training. She is anxious, high strung and very protective.
We have talked with Anecia, with the trainer (Katie at CRT Dog Training) and with Anecia’s mental health counselor. Katie tells us that Scarlet is improving, and they are moving to the stage where Katie will work with Anecia and Scarlet together, but more time is needed. The counselor tells us that the facility is considering to allow Scarlet to move in, in a couple months. She also says that in her opinion Anecia is quite capable to care for both Hendrix and Scarlet, and will be able to leave the facility, live on her own and care for both of them by this Summer or the end of Summer. They are also agreeing to work with the trainer to have visits at the facility.
But, for the next few months Scarlet needs to stay in boarding with CRT Dog Training. And the money has run out. Anecia has no income for many months, obviously, and the bill for Scarlet can no longer be paid. Katie has cut the fee in half, a full 50% discount. The bottom line, Scarlet needs funding for the next two or so months to stay where she is, until she can either move in with Anecia, or Anecia can leave the program and live outside on her own again.
We have throughly vetted this campaign. We have worked with CRT Dog Training in the past, with successful outcomes. We had an extensive discussion with Anecia and her counselor. All donations are held by us, and paid only for boarding and only for Scarlet. Anecia loves Scarlet and is adamant about keeping her., and Anecia has been Scarlet’s owner since she was a puppy. Your donation keeps Scarlet in a safe, good place while her mom gets better.
