About the Campaign
Sammy is a 14-year-old male Pitbull and Lab mix with a large growth hanging from his mouth. The vet has examined him, done bloodwork, and believes the mass can be removed with a procedure estimated at around $1,000.
Shannon first noticed the growth about a year ago, but at first it stayed small. Because Sammy is older and the mass did not seem to bother him much, she hoped it might remain manageable. But in the last few months, it has grown quickly and become much more concerning. A friend who was watching Sammy saw it and urged Shannon to get help.
Sammy has been with Shannon for 13 years. She found him running loose on 39th Street in Kansas City and chased after him until she could get him safe. She tried to find his home, but no one came forward, so Sammy became hers. Shannon says he is a sweet, stoic dog — always serious, always steady, and deeply loved.
The cost is the barrier. Shannon sells vintage clothing at shows and also has some items in a friend’s store, but her income is not steady. She also has two other dogs, Oscar and Luigi, who came into the family after Sammy.
Shannon is also caring for her boyfriend, Mark, who has had serious health problems. He suffered a stroke three years ago, a heart attack two years ago, and has recently been in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation after complications related to diabetes and a severe foot infection. Right now, Shannon is trying to manage Sammy’s urgent vet care while also worrying about Mark’s health.
Sammy is a senior dog, but this is a clear and reachable procedure that can help him. Donations will help cover the removal of the mouth growth, anesthesia, medications, follow-up care, and any testing needed so this sweet old boy can be more comfortable. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:

Hey Sammy, you deserve to be able to move around freely without that huge tumor hanging off of your chin. We love you and hope you feel better soon. Who wants to match me and donate $10?

This organization has helped me several times with vet bills that were out of reach. This is my small way of paying it forward. Good luck & God bless ❤️
