Let’s help Sam!

Sam, a gentle and loyal 9-year-old dog, has been Sari’s steadfast companion since she rescued him at just a year old. When Sari first met Sam, he was a shy, mistreated pup in desperate need of a safe, loving home. Over the years, he became the best boy, even welcoming the other foster dogs Sari cared for like they were his own pack!

Recently, Sam developed a limp, and Sari took him to the vet, where a bump on his front right ankle caught their attention. What she hoped was just another fatty tumor—like ones he’d had before—turned out to be a cancerous Mast Cell tumor. Though his health has been good up to now, the vet recommends surgery as soon as possible to remove the tumor and assess its aggressiveness.

Sari, who lives in Elk Grove, is on a fixed income and recovering from multiple strokes. The estimated $2,900 for Sam’s surgery, even with discounts, is far beyond her budget. She’s raised $600 so far, including by selling off a number of her belongings,  but still needs help to ensure Sam gets the care he urgently requires.

Sam has been Sari’s rock through thick and thin, helping her recover from her strokes with his unwavering companionship. Now, it’s her turn to give him the help he needs. His vet believes the cancer is localized to the ankle, and with timely surgery, Sam’s prognosis could be very hopeful.
