About the Campaign

 A note from Ruby’s mom
Ruby has been in our family almost 7 years. She is the best family dog ever! Ruby loves everyone and every animal she meets. She loves to go on car rides and adventures. Summer is her favorite time of the year and sun bathing is her jam! Also loves to swim and float in the water. She will howl with you while you sing (check out the video)!
She is seriously the most sweet lazy basset hound you will ever meet! Recently she was diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes and is pretty much mostly blind now. We were so devastated by the news and came to terms we will just have to all adjust for Ruby and she is actually adjusting pretty well! Being blind is not stopping her from being her and she is managing the best way she can.
Her eye pressure was really high when we took into the vet so we got eye drops and she was also given an IV with medicine as well. It did bring down her eye pressure a little bit but not enough to make her completely out of pain. The vet said it will only be a temporary bandaid to help but it will just get worse. So that is why we have decided the best thing for ruby would be a double enucleation so she will no longer be in pain.
The vet estimate, please note the vet estimate is for only one eye enucleation so we are adding another $350 for the second eye. Katelin and her family have saved up $500 for the surgery so the total is only $642.00. Katelin just had a baby and the family is living on one income. They have already saved what they could and just need a little extra help to get the full funding.
All donations are tax deductible. 100% of money donated is paid directly to the vet by Free Animal Doctor.
