About the Campaign
Roscoe has a bilateral perenial hernia
What is that? “A perineal hernia is a rupture in the pelvic floor, through which an organ may protrude into the region between the anus and the scrotum.”, it can be life threatening as the bladder and other parts can become squeezed and blocked.
In June Roscoe’s owner, Angelique, noticed a bump on Roscoe’s rear, which is where this type of hernia becomes visible. However, the vet misdiagnosed Roscoe, and said it was just a benign tumor. The vet recommended watching it, but doing nothing.
Then in December Roscoe had an emergency. He suddenly had a bowel blockage and had to have emergency surgery. It cost his family almost $6000, but he recovered. And the vet that did the surgery said that he thought the bump on his rear was not a tumor but more serious, and referred Roscoe to a specialist.
So there is where the Angelique found out that it was indeed a perineal hernia, and that surgery was necessary. In fact the vet thinks it is urgent at this point and has Roscoe scheduled for January 16th!
Angelique is a full-time CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant), but having just spent $6000 on emergency surgery she is short on money. In addition, earlier in 2020 her father passed away unexpectedly, and she had a lot of expenses around that as well.
Little Roscoe has had a rough 2020, as has his family! Maybe we can all get together and get him the surgery he needs to have a happy and 2021 and a comfortable life in his senior years!! Thank you!
