About the Campaign

Torn Knees Making

Arthritis Worse, and she’s only 3!

Rhea, an energetic and spirited three-year-old Rottweiler, has been Lauren’s loyal companion since she was a puppy. Full of life and endless enthusiasm, Rhea has brought boundless joy into Lauren’s world. But now, just as she’s hitting her prime, Rhea faces a painful setback—a severe injury in both back legs, making it impossible for her to move without intense pain.

Lauren first noticed something was wrong when Rhea got out of her truck, same as she always does, but then began crying out in distress. After rushing her to the vet: Rhea had ruptured both her CCLs and would need surgery to recover fully.

Despite being only three years old, Rhea has struggled with arthritis in both her legs and front elbows over the past year. The injury to her back legs has only worsened her arthritis, leaving her severely lame and unable to enjoy her usual activities. Lauren has spent over $1,000 on pain medications and X-rays to help Rhea feel comfortable while she awaits surgery. She even had insurance for Rhea! But because of a waiting period in the policy the company is refusing to cover this injury!

Due to an injury herself, Lauren has been unable to work over the past year and currently lives with her grandparents to make ends meet. She receives disability income through the VA, but it barely covers her own expenses, making the surgery costs for Rhea overwhelming… part of the reason she purchase the insurance.

Hi mom! Working?

Good news: Rhea’s prognosis is hopeful. With surgery, this sweet three-year-old will be able to walk without pain and continue living a full and active life. Funds are securely managed, paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate is below:
