About the Campaign

Radar was pulled from the Downey Seaaca CA high kill shelter, he is a gentleman of a dog.

When he was pulled from the shelter, he had an upper respiratory infection, which has now been resolved. After talking directly with vet and surgeon that will perform the surgery, Radar’s entropion is in fact one of the worst cases the they has every seen.

ARK Charities is an Animal Rescue and Welfare Organization focused on Saving Animals and the People that Love and Need them.

The three divisions of ARK include REDEMPTION RESCUE,  ARK ANGELS ASSISTANCE ANIMALS: FAITH FUND.

Entropion is a genetic condition in which a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward.

This can cause an eyelash or hair to irritate and scratch the surface of the eye, leading to corneal ulceration or perforation.  It can also cause dark-colored scar tissue to build up over the wound (pigmentary keratitis). These factors may cause a decrease or loss of vision.

In Radar case the fold is quite extreme, about a 1/4 inch is folded in a rubbing on his cornea and there is a great deal of concern, because Radar is not just a loved family pet, Radar has started his training to become a mobility service dog for his mom who is currently on full disability. The bond between Radar and his mom was instantaneous and Radar is uniquely qualified for the job, not only because of his amazing temperament but also because of his size, which is perfectly suited to him charge.

The treatment for entropion is surgical correction. A section of skin is removed from the affected eyelid to reverse its inward rolling. In many cases, a primary, major surgical correction will be performed, and will be followed by a second, minor corrective surgery later.

The prognosis for the surgical correction of entropion is generally good.

While several surgeries may be required, most dogs enjoy a pain-free normal life. If the condition is treated later and corneal scarring has occurred, there may be permanent irreversible visual deficits.

Radar is in pain and the temporary relief he is getting is not working well for him. We need to quickly raise the needed funds, as we do not want him in pain another day, nor do we want him visually impaired or God forbid, to go blind.  Please help us to get his surgery done immediately.

Radar’s vet estimate: RADAR-34839

Before the rescue had heard about us they started their own fundraiser with Fundrazr and raiser $405:  https://fundrazr.com/f1Ouf3?ref=ab_17I8n5_ab_0NsCVNZyZcY0NsCVNZyZcY

Poor baby! I hate to hear when an animal stays in pain until the vet bill can be paid!
