About the Campaign

Palliative Pup Pops,

rescued and safe now.

Pops is maybe 15 years old… we can’t know for sure. His owner was a disabled, elderly woman who went to the hospital and reported she was being abused by her caregivers. The police got involved, and the woman put out a plea on social media for someone to save her dogs, who she feared would end up in the animal shelter. The woman’s condition requires her to stay in the hospital, and she won’t be going back to her home.

Local dog rescuers got involved, but needed an immediate place for her dogs to go, as the local rescues are full. Soul 2 Soul Animal Rescue in Oregon agreed to take Pops, sight unseen, and he made the trip up to their rescue in Oregon about two weeks ago.

Pops has a slight heart murmur, very bad teeth and a crusty tumor on his back. The doctor wants to do dental surgery, even though Pops is pretty old, because the doctor says the infection in the mouth is not helping the heart condition and can lead to other serious problems as well. The teeth are that bad! (And painful too of course).

Also, they tried treating the thing on his back:

Pops had a round of antibiotics and all of that, but it did not heal up, so it is not a scar or injury and must be some sort of growth. It needs to be removed and tested.

Pops won’t be put up for adoption. He will live out his days with his foster as a hospice dog, supported by the rescue. If you can help support Pops and his rescuers by contributing to Pops’ surgery, please do so below. The estimate is here, and you can click on it to expand it:

Hopefully Pops will at least rest comfortably with his foster family for the time he has left. No living being should go thru what he has and die alone. Thank you for saving him.
