About the Campaign

Bad teeth, bad thyroid

You can see why they named him Pirate: Because he is so dashingly handsome! … and the missing eye probably too.

This cute little senior Chihuahua is only 4 pounds, a little guy, and he was left alone, trapped on the balcony of an apartment after his owners were evicted! Yep, they just put him on the balcony and left. Poor little Pirate…

The landlady found him, after he had been there for days, and through a series of people he ended up with a rescuer in the Fresno, CA area, instead of the shelter. That person could not keep him though, and she reached out to Soul2Soul Animal Rescue in Oregon to take him in. Unfortunately, she misrepresented Pirate’s condition, promising that he was completely healthy and ready to adopt. He isn’t. Just look at his teeth, obviously he needs major dental work:

Also, the rescue got him a full blood test. When he arrived he was 4.2 lbs, but then got up to 4.5 lbs in a week, and looked bloated. Well, yes he is bloated, because he has a Thyroid problem too. Easily corrected with medication, but requiring tests. The rescue is not financially able to take on dogs needing medical care right now, and only agreed to take Pirate because he was healthy. They have already spent $500 or so on his care and tests, and were not expecting this expense.

All donations are paid to the vet to get his teeth fixed up. It is important, not just because of the pain, but teeth this bad can lead to deadly infections, and cause many other issues including lung issues, they’re really too far gone and have to be fixed. All donations are paid to the vet directly, and only for Pirate! See estimate below (click to enlarge):

You are beyond adorable. I hope your next family is the best you deserve it. Your old family should be in jail for what they did to you.
