Piccolo and Viola

About the Campaign

Two Tiny Kittens, One Critical Surgery!

Piccolo and Viola are just 8 weeks old—and already fighting for their lives. Both kittens were born with a rare, life-threatening condition called Pectus Excavatum, where the chest grows inward, crushing the heart and lungs.

Their breathing is already labored. Without surgery, they won’t survive past kittenhood, probably not for more than another month or so.

But there’s hope—if the procedure happens now. After 12 weeks of age, their bones will harden, making surgery impossible. Time is running out, they are already 8.5 weeks old now (July 11).

Their rescuer, Jonnie, has found a compassionate, highly skilled vet—Dr. Kim, an emergency vet and surgical teacher—who is willing to take on the rare procedure when most wouldn’t. And he’s doing it for a fraction of the usual cost. The total is $4,600 for both kittens, when this kind of surgery can easily exceed $10,000.

Jonnie has already scraped together $1,000. But she needs help raising the remaining $3,600 in the next two weeks.

These kittens were found abandoned as newborns and bottle-fed by a network of animal lovers. Jonnie stepped in to give them a home, even as she grieved the loss of her beloved cat and mother. A bartender living in her inherited home, she cares for multiple rescued pets—and she’s doing everything she can to save these two.

Piccolo and Viola are playful, sweet, and impossibly cute. They didn’t ask for this condition, but they deserve the chance to grow up, purr, and play like any kitten. Please help Jonnie give them that chance. Estimates for each are below (click to enlarge):
