About the Campaign
Severe Mange
Phoenix is a young stray, just 8 or 9 months old, discovered in heartbreaking condition—sores across her body, patches of fur missing, and barely surviving in a junkyard during a rainy week. Local rescuer Sarah Rashad stepped in after hearing about Phoenix from another woman who helps feed the area’s feral cats.
At first, Phoenix was too skittish to approach. But after two or three days of Sarah offering warm, wet food, she gained enough trust to be safely captured. Now Phoenix is resting in isolation in Sarah’s guest bedroom, safe but still in urgent need of care. She’s allowing gentle pets and showing signs of hope—but her battle isn’t over yet.
Phoenix is suffering from a severe case of demodectic mange. The vet needs to identify the specific type of mites before treatment can begin. The full cost of care—including diagnostics, mange treatment, blood work, and spaying—is estimated to be at least $500, possibly more. Sarah is committed to getting Phoenix well and eventually adopted into a loving home. We’d also like to get her spayed, all shots and some bloodwork too.
After rescuing and adopting out eight elderly feral cats over the years—and just spending $315 to treat another blind cat—Sarah’s resources are tapped out. Her Care Credit is maxed, and she’s at zero financially. She’s not giving up on Phoenix, but she truly needs help. All donations are held by us and paid directly to the veterinarian.

Sarah gave me the kitten’s back story. And Sarah sounds like me, trying to rescue as many feral cats as possible. So I’m glad to help.
