About the Campaign
Perry Posted on Craigslist
About 7 years ago Jennifer happened to be on Craigslist and saw a posting on a FREE dog. Jennifer took down the information and called the number. The family with the dog said they took the listing off due to the safety concerns of the dog if it was posted for free. Jennifer asked to meet the dog in person with her kids. Once she met Perry, formally known as Harry, it was like Perry was Jennifer’s dog. Jennifer said Perry ran straight to her when they first met and didn’t even look back at her past parents.
Jennifer didn’t ask why they transferred Perry from Guatemala but they had papers for Perry and each family felt comfortable with Perry going with Jennifer so Perry moved to his new home.
Perry’s Poor Teeth
Over the last few months Jennifer has noticed Perry’s small teeth falling out.
Perry’s has so much teeth pain he can only eat wet food. He is still eating but kibble is no longer an option. Jennifer said she would pay the tartar control treats but they did nothing for Perry.
Jennifer took Perry to the vet last month and they said Perry needed $3,000 in dental work. At this time the vet said it would be highly suggested to have Perry tested for the spread to other organs of the gum disease. However, at this time Jennifer is only focused on getting his teeth taken care of first.
Jennifer did her homework and found a vet hours/ a state away that only does dental for $785. Here is what is included: Helping Hands is pleased to announce that we are now offering the option of dental radiographs for your pet! Radiographs are beneficial in allowing us to visualize the parts of your pet’s teeth that are underneath the gumline. Being able to see this area allows a better assessment of the overall oral health of your pet. Some of the conditions radiographs allow us to assess include, but are not limited to: bone loss, tooth resorption, tumors, retained roots and fractures. Full mouth radiographs before and after a dental procedure can help diagnose pre-existing problems and ensure that all problem teeth are fully addressed.
The appointment is set for 2/21/20. The date is far away but Perry is on the cancellation waitlist for an earlier appointment but the vet can’t guarantee it.
