Rescued dog is a bit of a mess!

Penny is a perfect little problem. A sweet cutie, she has some attitude, and doesn’t like getting poked and prodded, so as you can see in the photo below, she had to be muzzled at the vet.:

But she has good reason. Her mouth hurts, the teeth are in bad shape and her gums are swollen from infection. And then she has a bone pressing out from her chest… somehow the bone didn’t heal right from some previous injury.  She’s nine years old so who know when it happened, but it was a while ago.

What happened is that Soul2Soul Rescue in Oregon was asked to help with two dogs in southern California. The owner was being evicted and moving, not able to keep the dogs. There was a large one, and Penny. The report was that the large dog was being taken care of by another rescue, but Penny had nowhere to go. The dogs were healthy, had been to the vet regularly, and just needed a home!

Soul2Soul rescues a lot of larger dogs, and had room for a small dog like Penny, so they said to send her up to Oregon. And when Penny arrived, well, people had not told the truth. Penny was not spayed. She was underweight. Her breath was terrible (the dental infection). And she had the weird bump on her chest. The medical records? Nope. None of those.

The rescue was not prepared for these expenses and needs help getting Penny the treatment she needs. All donations here are specifically for Penny and we pay them right to her vet for treatment. The rescue is confident they can find Penny a great home, they just need to get her fixed up first, let’s help her get there!
