About the Campaign
Little Peewee is getting older, and has a number of health problems, but two of them are serious and need urgent attention.
He has a tumor somewhere in his belly area, and really bad gum infections, that could lead to serious complications.
Peewee was adopted from the animal shelter as a puppy by Rubin. Rubin is an Army veteran, and severely disabled. During his service Rubin was blinded for 8 months, and is still fully blind in one eye. In addition, he is now a double amputee, missing both legs. As you might imagine he is on disability and does not have much money, and it is also hard for him to take good photos and videos of Peewee, though he did his best for this fundraiser!
The tumor in Peewee’s belly was noticed in July, and when he went to the doctor for a check of it, the doctor also noticed the bad dental/gum infection, which Rubin was not aware of. However, since then, Peewee actually had two teeth fall out, so it is now very clear he needs dental work.
Originally Rubin took Peewee to a vet that we feel was overcharging him, so we have now had him go to a vet we trust, Ontario Veterinary Hospital. The plan is to do an ultra-sound on Peewee when he is under for his dental surgery. Hopefully the ultra-sound will give enough information to understand where the tumor is and how to deal with it.
As you can see in these videos, Rubin really cares for Peewee, and Peewee is a big comfort to him. We really hope everyone can come together and help get Peewee the procedures he needs to improve his health! Thank you 🙂
