About the Campaign

Pearl is a 10-year-old female cat who has several masses that need surgical removal. Her veterinarian also recommends diagnostic testing before surgery, along with a spay procedure, so Pearl can be treated as safely as possible. The vet wants this done within the month because the masses have been growing quickly.

Jenae first noticed a visible mass about four months ago. Since then, it has grown at an alarming rate. She brought Pearl to Marina Pet Hospital on June 22, and that visit confirmed that this is not something to keep watching and waiting on. Jenae is also considering another vet hospital to see if she can find a lower estimate, but either way, Pearl needs surgery.

Pearl has been with Jenae since she was a tiny stray kitten. Jenae and her dad found her in a back alley near where he worked. Pearl was alone, meowing, and using a plastic bucket as shelter. There were no other kittens around. Jenae took her in, and Pearl has been part of her life ever since.

The timing is especially hard because Jenae is currently unemployed after leaving a bad living situation. She worked as a veterinary technician, but had to move away and could not stay at that job. Right now she is staying with friends, paying what rent she can from savings, and trying to get settled somewhere safe.

Jenae had been preparing to move several hours away, near Chico, because her current situation has been unstable and harmful to her mental health. But Pearl’s diagnosis has stopped everything. She wants to do right by the cat she rescued years ago, but the cost of testing, surgery, and follow-up care is more than she can cover alone. Donations will help cover Pearl’s diagnostic testing, mass removal surgery, spay procedure, medications, and related veterinary care. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian.
