About the Campaign

Emergency Amputation to Stop Gangrene

Peanut, an 8-month-old kitten, has a severe infection in his right leg and now has gangrene. His veterinarian says amputation is the only way to save his life.

This started when a glass table fell and badly injured Peanut’s leg. At first, it looked like something he might heal from. But over the next couple of weeks, the wound worsened dramatically—his foot deteriorated, and the infection spread. Peanut has been started on antibiotics, but medication alone can’t fix gangrene.

Without surgery, Peanut’s condition could quickly become life-threatening. With an amputation, he has a real chance to recover, adapt, and get back to being the sweet, cuddly kitten he’s always been.

Peanut is deeply loved by his owner, Evelyn. He came from a family litter—her sister had the mom cat—and from the beginning, Peanut “picked” Evelyn. He’s been her comfort on hard days, the little shadow who shows up when she’s sad and curls right into her.

Evelyn is doing everything she can, but the cost of surgery is overwhelming. She’s a caregiver for her mom through an agency while also going to school for an associate degree in nursing, and she’s already behind on bills. Her family is dealing with serious medical hardships at home—her mom is on dialysis and has heart failure, and her dad recently suffered a stroke. Evelyn simply doesn’t have anywhere near the money available. Your donation will help cover the surgery and give Peanut the chance to heal and live a normal, happy life.
