About the Campaign
Tied to the shelter door at night.
Paul is a great dog!
Dental, eye, and a minor heart problem.
Paul is about 8+ years old. He was at a Los Angeles area animal shelter, where someone left him tied to the door overnight. He had terrible teeth and gum disease, bad eyes including a cherry eye that looks just awful, and a minor heart murmur. You can see about this in the video above.
Paul at the shelter
Step one for Paul:
We got him on heart medication. His murmur is not that bad, and he doesn’t appear to have any heart damage or development of heart disease, so this is probably not going to be an issue. In our experience, heart murmurs are common in dogs of this breed.

Then he had dental surgery. He had to have his gums worked on, nine teeth removed, and the rest cleaned, but he did fine in surgery and recovered just fine. This cost the rescue about $1000.00.
Eye medication to help reduce swelling and generate tear production, Paul responded well the medication and started generating his own tears again very quickly. We also started getting him exercise and attention by taking him, occasionally, on our Runyon Canyon Rescue Dog Hikes. He loves getting outside and he ABSOLUTELY loves attention!
Paul’s eyes are improving a lot. He is responding well to medication. The doctor has now scheduled him for surgery on his eye. Paul is partially blind, but we think the eye that looks worse is actually the eye with the best vision, so we want to do the surgery to save it!
Donations for Paul
Paul’s dental surgery, eye surgery and continued heart medications will cost us over $2000.00. All donations here are to help offset these costs as much as possible, which means we can rescue MORE dogs like Paul! If you would like to be part of it, please consider a donation here today. We appreciate them all, and every single dollar helps. Truly and sincerely, we appreciate it so much! Thank you!!!
