Six puppies, all sick with the deadly Parvo virus.

Owner is abandoning them at the veterinarians…

Can a rescue help, now?!?

On Friday, May 14th, the owner took the mother dog to the vet as she was sick and throwing up. She was diagnosed with Parvo. She had six puppies, born April 7th, but they were ok at that time. The owner elected to treat the mother dog at home, and left the vet.

The next day, Saturday May 15th, he went to We Talk Pets in Upland, CA. All six puppies had started throwing up and had diarrhea. The doctor was able to quickly determine all of them had Parvo, which is often deadly to puppies.

The cost of Parvo treatment is high, almost $2000 per puppy, and there were six puppies. The owner told the doctor he could not afford and was going to abandon the puppies and take the mother home. (Though Parvo is quite deadly to puppies, adult dogs have a much better survival rate). The doctor then reached out to I Dream of Home Rescue.

Three of the puppies immediately went to  Leo’s Love Rescue, but I Dream of Home Rescue was left with the other three. A small rescue, I Dream of Home, was not expecting this expense, nor prepared for it. The vet has lowered the price to a fixed $1600 per puppy, or $4800, and the rescue has $600 available…… but the rest of the funds are urgently needed to help these three puppies, 2 girls and 1 boy, survive.

They are “Flat Coated Retrievers” and will make great dogs if they can just live through this disease! The rescue is now committed to them, and once they survive Parvo they will be fully vaccinated and cared for until adopted. Can you help these puppies today?

One puppy was taken over by a rescue that will pay for it. So we have lowered the request amount. Also, the vet provided a written estimate, below (price is per puppy):
