About the Campaign
Paige is a 9-year-old Dachshund with a severe eye ulcer that is not healing, even with treatment. Joelyn has been taking her to Vetco, but after two months of trying to save the eye, the recommendation is now removal so Paige can finally be out of pain.
Joelyn does not know what originally caused the ulcer. Paige has always had somewhat bulging eyes, and that may have made her more vulnerable to injury or irritation. What matters now is that the eye is badly damaged, the ulcer is not improving, and Paige needs surgery before she suffers any longer.
Paige came into Joelyn’s life when she was about 2 years old. She had been used for breeding, and Joelyn was able to take her through a guardianship arrangement because the breeder no longer wanted her. Joelyn did not have to pay for Paige, but she did have to prove she had been spayed in order to keep her. Paige has been loved and protected ever since.
The cost is the barrier. Joelyn works as a case manager for geriatric home care, and her husband, Ian, is a carpenter. They have three daughters: Payton, Lucy, and Stella. Stella is autistic, and the family’s first responsibility is making sure she has the services, school support, and care she needs.
Those services take up much of the family’s income, including extra health insurance costs connected to Stella’s schooling and support. Joelyn and Ian are working hard, but Paige’s eye surgery is more than they can manage on top of everything else. Donations will help cover Paige’s eye removal surgery, anesthesia, pain medication, follow-up care, and any needed medications so this sweet senior Dachshund can heal and live comfortably again. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. Estimate below, click to enlarge:
