About the Campaign

Oliver is six months old and already on his third chance!

He was found as a stray. Someone took him in when he was about eight weeks old, but they couldn’t keep him. Landlord issues. Money problems. So they surrendered him to Girls of Dog Rescue back in September. The rescue placed him in a foster home, a foster-to-adopt situation. Things were looking up.

Then about ten days ago, Oliver jumped off the couch. There was a sharp yelp. Something was wrong.

The foster took him to the vet, who diagnosed a luxating patella. That’s a dislocated kneecap that slides in and out of place. It’s painful. It’s getting worse. And the vet says if it’s not fixed soon, Oliver could also tear his ACL. That would mean a much bigger, much more expensive TPLO surgery.

Right now, Oliver can’t be adopted. He needs this knee surgery first, plus a neuter. Once that’s done, he’s ready to go to his forever home.  Girls of Dog Rescue wants to help him, but they’re stretched thin. They have a lot of medical dogs right now and not enough funds to cover everyone. Oliver needs about $200 for the neuter plus the cost of the knee surgery.

The good news is that luxating patella repair is a straightforward procedure with a great prognosis. Oliver is young and otherwise healthy. Fix his knee and this puppy gets to have a normal life.

All donations are specifically for Oliver and paid directly to the veterinarian.

UPDATE (mostly good)
We’ll start with the bad: His knee was dislocating and then popping back in. But just recently it has popped out and will not go back. It is now dislocated and painful (obviously). So the good? His rescue raised over $1000 on their own AND got another vet to offer a discount to $2200 (from $3400). So now his fundraiser goal is dropped from $3400 to just $1200!! Very accessible. We’d some to see him in surgery this week, let’s donate and get it done for Oliver! The old estimate is below (click to enlarge):

Please don’t allow Oscar to jump off and on the furniture. There are doggy steps and ramps that will keep him safe. God bless everyone who had a hand in helping this little guy…🙏
