About the Campaign

X-Rays to Find Out What’s Causing His Limp

Oliver, a 14-year-old orange tabby, has been Sheryl’s quiet shadow for more than a decade. But recently, he emerged from under the bed with a painful limp in his front leg—and no one knows why.

The vet prescribed medication, which seemed to help at first, but the cause of Oliver’s limp is still a mystery. Now he urgently needs x-rays and blood tests to diagnose what’s going on and get the right treatment. At his age, every day matters.

Sheryl adopted Oliver back in 2011, after losing her previous cat in a tragic accident. She wasn’t sure she was ready for another—until she saw Oliver at the shelter, sitting sadly in his cage. The moment she touched his fur, she knew he was the one.

Today, Oliver is still the heart of their home. Sheryl works as a pharmacy tech, but her husband James has been out of work since undergoing hip replacement surgery last fall. While searching for work, James has become known in their neighborhood as the “cat whisperer,” caring for local strays, getting them fixed, and giving them meds—even when they can barely afford it.

Now their own cat needs help, and they’re struggling to cover the cost of his care, and were declined for Care Credit.

Oliver’s tests are expected to cost several hundred dollars, and every donation helps. All contributions will go directly to Oliver’s veterinarian, whose estimate is below (click to enlarge):
