About the Campaign

Painful Broken Tooth

Odie, officially named Odessa Pixie Pearl, is a four-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into her small frame. Unfortunately, she’s now dealing with a painful dental issue: one of her teeth is broken with the inner part exposed and loose, while another is also loose.

This has already caused an abscess, and though antibiotics have helped for now, the vet made it clear that Odie needs surgery to remove the teeth. Without it, the infection will keep coming back and cause her more pain.

Richard, Odie’s owner, rescued her from Riverside County Shelter at the end of 2023. It was a free adoption day, and Odie was the very last dog available. When Richard picked her up, she leapt into his arms crying, and he knew instantly she was meant to be part of his family. She joined his other dog, 10-year-old Pippie, and has been a beloved companion ever since.

Life has not been easy for Richard. He supports himself with gig work like Uber Eats and Amazon Flex, but his poor night vision makes it difficult to earn enough since most shifts are late at night or early in the morning.

He struggles to cover even his own rent, relying on help from his family, and receives SNAP benefits to get by. He also battles major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety, which makes day-to-day challenges even harder. Despite all this, Richard is doing his best to care for Odie and give her the life she deserves.

Odie’s condition is treatable, and with dental surgery she can recover fully and return to her playful self. Every donation will go directly to the veterinarian to cover the cost of her procedure. Your support will give Odie relief from pain and ensure this sweet little rescue can continue to thrive in her forever home.

Odie has undergone the procedure. All her teeth but one way in the back have been removed. She now gets to enjoy her favorite wet food for the rest of her life. Thanks all who donated. It is great appreciated.
