Rescued kitten needs amputation
Lost her paw, and now the arm is growing wrong.
It’s ok! Three legged cats do just fine. They have full, great lives. The doctor hoped the leg might be ok, but it is not.
October is a rescue kitten. Her mom literally just walked into Abigail’s home in Las Vegas a few months ago, and had kittens! It was during the big rain storms and flooding in August, she was clearly looking for somewhere safe, and got lucky!
Abigail has kept her and cared for all the kittens, and will be finding them homes now that they are getting of age. But little October injured her paw badly, and the ER veterinarian had to remove it.
The problem is that the bone is growing too fast and wrong, and pulling the skin. It will become painful and get infected. At a recheck last week the doctor confirmed that the arm must be amputated.
Abigail is a young person, living with roommates and just does not have much money or available credit. She has already spent almost $1000 on October and does not have the funds for the amputation. All donations are only for October, and only paid to the vet. They gave a verbal estimate of $2000 at the check up, and we are also asking local rescues if they can recommend a lower cost vet for October.
