About the Campaign

Hernia? Tumor? Maybe both…

Obi has had a long health journey recently. But, he is at the end of his issues, with one problem left to go. It is probably a hernia, that the doctor can fix, but here is also the possibility of a tumor. Dr Adams of Westside Pet Clinic in Santa Monica gives a detailed explanation in the video above.

A year ago Obi had kidney stones. Poor guy was having trouble peeing, and peeing some blood. In male dogs this can be very serious and an emergency, so his family got him treatment right away, and he had 12 stones removed. He recovered great and got on a special diet to help prevent a reoccurrence of the stones. The surgery was pricey, and the prescription food adds up too!

Then about six months ago they were worried the stones came back. A small bump showed up on his belly…. so x-rays showed no problems, which then led to the recommendation of an ultra-sound, but that required another vet…. and on it went, a lot more money spent but they didn’t really reach a conclusion.

Obi’s fav, his sheep:

Fortunately Obi’s mom heard about us and we recommended Dr Adams, and now Obi has a clear plan. Good news, it is not kidney stones. He has no indications of stones, and that is all fine! More good news, the doctor is almost sure it is not cancer, or if it is, it is localized and not spread. A previous vet has probably misdiagnosed that. So overall, good news for Obi.

The problem is there is something wrong, probably a hernia. Probably easily repaired. But he needs the surgery, and if there is a little tumor there, then that needs to be removed and biopsied as well. Obi’s family spent over $5000 on his surgery and then all the recent back and forth with different doctors, putting a lot of that on credit, they just do not have the money for his surgery.

Good news: All donations raised here are just for Obi and paid ONLY to Westside Pet Clinic when the surgery is performed. You are donating directly to Obi! So you if you would like to help this good boy get surgery he needs to be back 100%, please make a donation today. See vet estimate below, click it to enlarge:
