Nina Needs Help to
Walk Without Pain
Nina’s recovery from a torn knee is just beginning, but she needs surgery on both legs to run and play again.
Kyle adopted Nina six years ago from the Humane Society of St. Louis, wanting to give the sad, malnourished stray a loving home. She had been neglected and mistreated, but Kyle saw her potential for joy. Nina quickly became part of the family, her favorite pastime being tugging ropes—often shredding them in a single day!
Recently, Nina suffered a terrible accident. While trying to jump onto the bed, she slipped, yelped, and sat down, refusing to walk. Kyle rushed her to the ER, where they initially thought it was just arthritis and sent her home with pain meds. But a few days later, things got worse—Nina wasn’t walking at all on her back legs. After more vet visits and X-rays, they discovered the real issue: Nina had torn the CCLs in both of her knees.
To manage her pain, Kyle has been using a sling to help Nina move around, and she’s on medication to keep her calm. But she needs more than temporary solutions. TPLO surgery is the only option to give Nina back the ability to walk and play without pain. Today, Nina is having surgery on one leg, which Kyle is paying for, but the second surgery is financially out of reach.
Nina and Buddy hanging out:
Kyle, a manufacturing team lead for an HVAC company, recently went through a tough time being out of work. Most of his savings went to cover basic expenses, and although he’s back at work now, he simply doesn’t have the funds left to pay for Nina’s second surgery.
Nina has already been through so much, from her rough start as a stray to this current battle with her knees. Kyle is committed to giving her the best life possible, but he needs your help to make that happen. With your support, Nina can get the second TPLO surgery she desperately needs, so she can run, play, and tug on ropes again like she used to.
Please consider donating to Nina’s surgery fund. Every little bit helps, and all funds will go directly toward her veterinary care. Together, we can help Nina get back on her feet. Vet estimate below, click to enlarge:
