About the Campaign
Nikki can no longer walk
She needs a front-wheelchair!
Rescued with bone cancer in the shoulder of her front left leg, the only option was amputation. Fortunately it went well and Nikki has had a happy 10 months since the surgery.
But recently swelling on her remaining (right) front leg has left her basically unable to walk. The vet thinks it is most likely that she now has a cancerous tumor in her right leg, which will need to be removed. Hopefully just the tumor, not the leg!
Right now her owner needs money to get a front wheelchair (which is a little more pricey than a rear chair) and for some x-rays and tests for the swelling on her remaining leg.
Nikki’s Story
She was rescued from a hoarding/neglect situation early last year. She could barely walk and was in pain. Exams and xrays (see below) revealed the cancer in her shoulder, which had actually broken her bone!
The doctor determined the best choice was to amputate the whole leg from the shoulder, get the tumor out, and monitor for new tumors. There were no other signs of the spread of the cancer.
After six months, she was still cancer free, and things really looked good, but a few weeks ago she started limping on her remaining front leg… and then the swelling was noticed!
How you can help:
