About the Campaign

Naleah is a 3-year-old female Pitbull mix who has a torn CCL and needs surgery to stabilize her knee and relieve her pain. She was diagnosed in July 2025, has been dealing with this injury for nearly a year, and her surgery is scheduled for April 1. Serenity has been saving and plans to put her tax refund toward the bill, but the cost is still more than she can cover alone. She is trying REALLY hard for Naleah, more on that below. 

Naleah’s injury likely happened while she was staying with Serenity’s dad on his farm during a period when Serenity was dealing with housing issues. They can’t know the exact moment, but Serenity suspects Naleah may have hurt her knee jumping a fence, she was known for trying to get to the cows and nipping at their ankles. When Serenity got her back nearly two years ago, Naleah was already struggling on that leg, and a vet later confirmed a partial CCL tear.

Serenity adopted Naleah as a puppy after seeing a Facebook post from a family who couldn’t keep her. They had a newborn, lived in an apartment, and couldn’t care for a 4-month-old pup, so Serenity paid a $100 rehoming fee and brought her home. Serenity wasn’t sure she was ready for a dog, but Naleah ended up being exactly what she needed: steady companionship when she was living alone and dealing with a lot.

Serenity is doing everything she can to make this surgery happen. She is just 21 years old and works two jobs (including at PetSmart, where she gets a discount) and is also a full-time student at MSU studying social work. She has rent and car expenses and has already taken out a school loan.

On top of that, Serenity’s household has grown suddenly and unexpectedly. Her mom, Amanda, recently lost her housing and has been living in her car, and Serenity has taken in her two younger brothers—Aiden (13) and Trevor Jr. (18). For the past five months, Serenity has been supporting them with food and day-to-day basics, turning a one-bedroom, one-bathroom home into a crowded space for four people. And she is still managing to save some money for Naleah!

Donations will help cover Naleah’s CCL surgery and related veterinary care so she can recover and return to an active, pain-free life. All donations are paid only to the veterinarian. The estimate is below, a total over $4000 of which only $2100 is needed to get Naleah healed (click on estimate to enlarge):
